Back Ricciardo To Set The Fastest Lap At The Hungarian Grand Prix
William Hill are way off the mark with their 9/1 quote about Daniel Ricciardo setting the Fastest Lap of the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Australian went fastest here in 2015, he repeated the trick in both Monaco and Singapore during the course of that season.
In 2016 the Australian recorded an additional four fastest laps in 2016, once again topping the time-sheets at Singapore. F1 purists will know these three circuits (Singapore, Monaco and Hungary) collectively represent the slowest tracks in terms of top-speeds and they require the highest downforce configuration. It is something Ricciardo’s Red Bull car thrives on.

Kimi Can Podium
As for the race, it is very possible the Mercedes will struggle here, as they did in Monaco. Indeed, take away the wall-lining and Hungary features some stark similarities with the Monte Carlo circuit.
With Kimi Raikkonen starting in pole position in Monaco, ultimately losing the advantage in the pits, he is fancied to perform well here. Third at Silverstone last time (unfortunate not to claim second) and with a career record which has seen him claim seven podium finishes (including one race win) in Hungary, he’s a strong fancy for another top-three finish on Sunday. He is certainly over-priced at Bet365’s 3/1 quote.
Lewis Hamilton scored by a margin of 14 seconds at Silverstone last time and Betfred’s 6/4 about a winning margin in excess of 10 seconds this week has a lot of appeal. The average Hungarian winning margin is well over 10 seconds and five of the last nine races here have been won by a margin in excess of that mark.
