Hackwood Stakes Betting
The Hackwood Stakes takes place at Newbury's Summer Festival meeting during July. The Group Three race is a six furlong contest for thoroughbreds aged three years old and over.
The race was originally classed as a listed race but was promoted to Group Three level in 2006, with several quality horses likely to be competing for favouritism in the latest betting. The race forms an exciting part of the flat racing meeting at Newbury and is one of the highlights of the second day of the Summer Festival.
When considering the ante-post betting and odds for the race it is well worth looking at the past winners and three year olds enjoyed great success at the turn of the century, although four year olds have tended to produce the goods in recent years. In terms of looking out for a trainer, several trainers have trained multiple winners, including James Fanshawe who trained 2011 winner Deacon Blues. Deacon Blues also landed the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot and British Champions Sprint Stakes during a fine 4-year-old campaign.
