Coronation Stakes Betting Preview And Tips

Aidan O'Brien's Clemmie is at the top of the Coronation Stakes Odds, and having won this race 12 months ago with Winter, the Ballydoyle team will hope to retain the coveted Group 1 crown on Friday afternoon, but the daughter of Galileo will face a whole host of classy fillies in one of Friday's showpiece event, and it should serve up a superb spectacle for punters heading to day of Royal Ascot.

Coronation Stakes Odds

Available at 7/2 with Betfair Sportsbook, Clemmie will need to recapture the form she showed when winning a host of Group races as a juvenile, which included the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket, and saw her touted as one of the best two-year-olds in training.

However, she failed to show the same sparkle when down the field in the Irish 1000 Guineas on her first run of the season last month, and that day she was beaten by Jessica Harrington's Alpha Centauri, who will do battle with her again on Friday, and is a best-priced 4/1 with Coral Bookmakers for this intriguing Coronation Stakes.

Harrington's raider seemed to relish the quicker ground at the Curragh that day, having struggled in softer conditions in her previous race, but you have to feel that Clemmie is sure to come on for that debut outing, and the pair should serve up a superb duel at the head of the betting, but may both prove to be a little vulnerable to some other rivals.

Richard Hannon’s Billesdon Brook was a shock 66/1 winner of the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket last month, and will be eager to show that that performance wasn't just a flash in the pan, and she is entitled to be hovering around the 11/2 mark with Betfred, but she may just find it tough to replicate that performance, and may have to settle for the minor honours here.

David Simock's Teppal remains unbeaten after three starts, and the 13/2 chance with Betfair Sportsbook was last seen bounding to victory in the French 1000 Guineas, and if she can continue on an upward curve then is potentially the one with the most chance of breaking into the elite division, when potentially locking horns with the boys later on in the season.

Coronation Stakes Tips

Coeur De Beaute was just touched off by Teppal in that French 1000 Guineas, and if she can emulate that sort of run on her first visit to British shores then she could be interesting at 10/1 with Betfair Sportsbook, but it’s Marco Botti’s Capla Temptress that makes most appeal at double-figured odds, as she ran a decent race when fourth in French Guineas.

She was beaten by less than half-a-length that day, so she is entitled to be a lot shorter than the 14/1 currently on offer with Paddy Power Bookmakers, and with that only her first start for Botti then he can improve her considerably for that first run, and she is a superb each-way bet in what looks a hugely competitive race for punters.

Of the others, Threading and Veracious (both 16/1) add more depth to this Group 1, but may just struggle to deal with some of those fillies ahead of them in the market, while Anna Nerium (20/1) is another worthy of a mention, but in Capla Temptress there's certainly a value bet in what should be a thrilling renewal.
