Improving US Navy Flag A Massive Each Way Price In Exciting Dewhust Stakes Market
Saturday 14th October 2017, 3pm - Dewhurst Stakes (Newmarket)
This time of year is always a great time for punters looking to find the future stars of flat racing and that continues this weekend at Newmarket as the Dewhurst Stakes takes centre stage. The 7f Group 1 race for 2YO horses has been won by the likes of Churchill, Dawn Approach and Frankel in the past few years so it really can be the best guide for the classics.
- Aidan O'Brien has trained the Dewhurst winner five times since 2001, including three of the last four

Expert Eye The Clear Favourite
There is often a talking horse with the future in mind in the Dewhurst Stakes, and as we look ahead to the Group 1 contest, it is Expert Eye who is the clear one to beat.
A son of Acclamation, the Sir Michael Stoute trained horse has won both of his starts so far and goes to Newmarket with a very lofty reputation. He was last seen winning the Vintage Stakes over this trip at Goodwood in very taking fashion, and it was hard not to be impressed by the way he stretched clear of some good horses that day.
This is another step up for Expert Eye but all the vibes from the yard suggests he is a potential star which is why is the clear favourite at 4/7 with Bet365.
O'Brien Heading To HQ With A Strong Team
Aidan O'Brien has once again enjoyed a remarkable year and the master of Ballydoyle is not finished yet with the all time number of Group 1 wins in a calendar year record firmly in his sights.
He is closing in on Bobby Frankel and a win here in a race he has a good record in would see see him edge closer. O'Brien has trained the winner three times in the last four years, and US Navy Flag is the one that catches the eye in terms of their best chance.
A son of War Front, and a Grandson of Galileo, he has run a remarkable ten times already this year and he seems to be getting better with every run. He was last seen winning the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes over 6f and there is no reason to think another furlong won't suit him, which means that 8/1 with Betfred is a juicy each-way play.
O'Brien also has Seahenge (9/1) in the field although he has plenty to find with Expert Eye having been down the field i the Vintage Stakes. The son of Scat Daddy did bounce back and improve last time out when winning the Champagne Stakes Doncaster which is interesting, but this requires much more.
Emaraaty (4/1) impressed last time out at Newbury in a lower level race and appears to be highly thought of by respected connections. This is a big step up but he remains unexposed which is interesting but this might prove a little hot for him. Expert Eye looks the one to beat given the vibes but he is too short to back which means that US Navy Flag is the cheeky each-way play for the Aidan O'Brien team.
