Falmouth Stakes Betting Preview And Tips
Jessica Harrington's Alpha Centauri was a stunning six-length winner of the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, and she is now a clear favourite in the Falmouth Stakes Odds, which takes centre stage at Newmarket on Friday afternoon, but she will have some classy fillies to down in a mouth-watrering renewal at Flat HQ.

Falmouth Stakes Odds
Known more as a National Hunt trainer having trained Sizing John to Cheltenham Gold Cup glory, Harrington has propelled into the limelight on the Flat with Alpha Centauri, who was a fine winner of the Irish 1000 Guineas before going on to land that Ascot crown with aplomb, and she is a red-hot 4/6 favourite with BetVictor for this prize.
She completely outclassed her rivals in the Coronation last month as she stalked the leaders before pulling well clear to break the track record, and if she is in a similar mood on Friday then she will be vey tough to beat, as she heads to Newmarket for the first time in her flourishing career.
Mark Johnston's Threading was second in the Coronation Stakes last month, but was no match for Alpha Centauri, and with a poor record at Newmarket the daughter of Exceed And Excel will struggle to get close to the Irish raider again, and at 7/1 with Betfred looks one to avoid in the Falmouth Stakes.
One that could prove to be a challenger to Alpha Centauri is the Aidan O'Brien-trained Clemmie, who was well beaten by Alpha Centauri in the Guineas and the Coronation, but the Ballydoyle raider has won her previous two races at Newmarket, and at 15/2 with William Hill has to warrant respect from a yard that have won the last two renewals of this race.
Falmouth Stakes Tips
With only seven runners lining up then each-way punters will likely steer clear of this contest, and on the face of it Alpha Centauri just has to turn up in similar form as she was when winning at the Royal meeting, but she won't have it all her own way with Clemmie and a couple of other runners likely to run her close.
Johnston will also saddle Nyaleti, who was last seen winning the German Guineas, and she will line up in excellent form, and at 10/1 with BetVictor is worth a second look, while the pairing of Altyn Orda (20/1 with Betfred) and Opal Tiara (20/1 with Coral) add significant depth to the Group 1 showpiece, but it's Alpha Centauri that can ultimately cruise to victory, and enhance her already lofty reputation.
