The Head Of The Market
Sergio Garcia is the only player ranked inside the world's top-20 to tee up this week and he starts as a 14/1 favourite. You would expect him to contend on the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio, where he was consulted on the design of the course prior to its opening in 2010.
The Oaks Course has been the host venue of the Texas Open since 2011 and 18/1 shot Matt Kuchar has a best of tied 4th from 2014 to show for his efforts there.
Charley Hoffman looks a better bet as he is the all-time earnings leader at the Texas Open with his recent visits to TPC San Antonio yielding an impressive run of results - 2-13-3-11-11-1-40. There was added pressure on Hoffman during his title defence twelve months ago but he returns in fine fettle, securing top-25s in four of his past six starts, and he looks a good bet at 22/1.
Tip #1: Charley Hoffman (each way) @ 22/1 with Coral - 1/5 odds on 7 places.
The big-hitting Luke List should enjoy the layout this week and it looks to be an ideal fit for a player still searching for the first PGA Tour title of his career. List has twice finished on the podium in 2018 as he was runner-up at the Honda Classic before he tied 3rd at Harbour Town last week, where he secured a fifth top-20 result in his last nine starts.
Tip #2: Luke List (each way) @ 25/1 with Coral - 1/5 odds on 7 places.
The Best Of The Rest
The best bet of the week could prove to be Billy Horschel as he loves playing at San Antonio, where he has racked up three top-four finishes in his last five visits. Horschel arrives in great touch too as he putted really well to top-five in South Carolina last time out and he is surely the pick of the prices.
Tip #3: Billy Horschel (each way) @ 35/1 with Bet 365 - 1/4 odds on 5 places.
Finally, Daniel Summerhays has been in dreadful form of late but he is worth a small each-way wager at a venue where he tends to perform well. Summerhays has made the last six cuts at the Texas Open, including four top-fifteens, which have yielded two top-four results. Those are decent returns and he is a massive 300/1.
Tip #4: Daniel Summerhays (each way) @ 300/1 with Unibet - 1/5 odds on 6 places.
