Thomas Bjorn announced his captain's picks for European Ryder Cup team on Wednesday and there were few surprises as he has opted for experience in selecting Ian Poulter, Henrik Stenson, Sergio Garcia and Paul Casey. Will his faith in Ryder Cup veterans be rewarded? We take a look at the Ryder Cup Odds...
Ryder Cup Odds
Europe are currently 11/8 to win the Ryder Cup and they have won eight of the last eleven editions, although they are bidding to snatch the famous trophy back after losing 17-11 to the USA at Hazeltine two years ago.
Their price for this year's edition has been drifting as the two teams are finalised - USA have just one wildcard left to announce - and it looks a tall order for Thomas Bjorn's side at Le Golf National from 28-30 September.
There was a lack of experience amongst the eight automatic qualifiers for the European team as five were Ryder Cup rookies, although Bjorn has added significant know-how with his four wildcard selections.
Poulter is 9/1 to be top European points scorer, Stenson is 10/1, Casey is 10/1 and Garcia is 12/1 as the Spaniard bids to add to his 22.5 career points in the Ryder Cup.
Rory McIlroy is the 9/2 favourite to be top European points scorer with Paddy Power.
Europe will need their most experienced players to shine as they come up against a formidable USA team that can lay claim to 31 major victories between them.
USA are 5/6 favourites (Bet Victor) to win the Ryder Cup on European soil for the first time since their success at The Belfry in 1993.
