Premier League Relegation Odds
Cardiff are the 7/10 favourites to go straight back down after producing a monumental effort to earn promotion under Neil Warnock last season. The Welsh side weren't particularly pleasant on the eye in the Championship and they will surely struggle, with Unibet going 7/10 for Cardiff to be relegated.
It augurs well that all of the promoted teams stayed in the Premier League during the 2017/18 campaign, and we expect both Wolves (8/1) and an entertaining Fulham (2/1) to stay up this season.
However, we do fear for the sides that came up last year and Huddersfield are 11/10 to go down. They did well to stay in the division last year but they have failed to build during the summer transfer window and they are in for another season of struggle. The Terriers are 9/2 to finish bottom (Betfred) and they, along with Brighton (9/4), are bound to be in the relegation mix.
Meanwhile, a few more established names could be in for a tough year as Newcastle are in a state of limbo following a summer of transfer frustration and only the presence of Rafa Benitez on the touchline ensures that they aren't any shorter than 5/1 to go down.
Burnley have the added distraction of the Europa League, which is sure to test their already thin squad, and Sean Dyche's men are 7/2 for the drop.
Southampton are 7/1 for relegation after an uninspiring summer transfer window - could Mark Hughes take another club down?
Ultimately, it is Watford who look most in danger to us. They have accepted mediocrity for some time now and their constant chopping and changing of managers will come back to bite them. They are relying on the mercurial Gerard Deulofeu to produce the goods on a regular basis but the Hornets will struggle, with Unibet going 9/4 for them to be relegated.
