The Shanghai Rolex Masters is a relatively new addition to the ATP Tour schedule as it is has been a Masters 1000 event since 2009. There should be some fantastic opportunities for betting for the punter as some of the top players could well be tired after a long hard season and could have half an eye on the BNP Paribas Masters and the season ending ATP World Tour Finals in November.
It leaves the betting wide open and there is likely to be some value in the odds as was shown in 2009 when Nicolay Davydenko upset the odds to beat a tiring Rafael Nadal in the final. It follows on from the US Open grand slam in the tour calendar in October and offers the winner $616,000.
It is an outdoor hard court event in Shanghai, China, and the fast pace of the courts means the likes of Andy Murray and Roger Federer are worth considering in the betting. Those two competed in the 2010 final, and before it became a Masters 1000 event winners included the likes of David Nalbandian, Lleyton Hewitt and Novak Djokovic and their odds are well worth looking out for.....
| Year | Winner | Runner Up | Score |
| 2009 | Nikolay Davydenko | Rafael Nadal | 7-6, 6-3 |
| 2010 | Andy Murray | Roger Federer | 6-3, 6-2 |
| 2011 | Andy Murray | David Ferrer | 7-5, 6-4 |
Andy Murray retained his Shanghai Masters with a 7-5, 6-4 win over David Ferrer in the final and in the process secured his fifth title of the season. It was Murray's third successive tournament win, all of them in Asia, and the result moves Murray up to third, ahead of Roger Federer, in the world rankings.
The latest odds will appear here as soon as they are available....
The BNP Paribas Masters in Paris follows the Shanghai Masters in November and can be an important event in the build up to the season ending ATP World Tour Finals.
It is seen as the most prestigious indoor hard court event and it has produced plenty of surprise winners and finalists in the past, which means there should be plenty of value to be found in the ante-post betting and in the odds throughout the tournament.
Players such as Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, David Nalbandian, Robin Soderling and Tomas Berdych have all upset the odds in the past to win the tournament, and it could be worth looking away from the top two for a winner in Paris.....
