Rome Masters Betting

The Rome Masters, or the Internazional NBL d'Italia, follows hot on the heels of the Madrid Open in the ATP Tour calendar as the players look to step up their preparations for the prestigious French Open. The tournament in Rome takes place in the middle of May, just a few weeks before the French Open and is played on outdoor clay courts.

It is a fantastic opportunity for punters to back a player in form during the long clay court part of the season and a great chance to have a look at the odds and see how players are shaping up for a tilt at Roland Garros. As is so often the case on clay, Rafael Nadal has dominated this tournament over the years but there should be plenty of value around in the odds for other players in the ante-post betting.

Novak Djokovic has made a name for himself here over the years and it is a tournament that suits back of the court type players who love long rallies. It's probably best to stay away from the big servers and serve and volley type players in the betting as the clay often nullifies the pace of their shots. It is a bet of three set tournament though so players will have to be out of the blocks quickly if they are to progress in Italy and take that with them to the next big tournament in the calendar - The French Open.

Rafa Nadal gained revenge over Novak Djokovic as he made up for defeat in the final of this tournament in 2011 by winning the 2012 title in fine style, eventually winning through 7-5, 6-3.

The French Open

The French Open at Roland Garros is the second grand slam event of the season after the Australian Open. Played on its trademark clay courts the event has been dominated in recent years by Rafael Nadal.
