The BNP Paribas Open or Indian Wells Masters is a Masters 1000 Event on the men's ATP Tour and is also part of the women's tennis tour. It is held in March each season at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California, with the women's event starting on the Wednesday and the Thursday sees the start of the men's tournament. The hard court event involves 96 players from both the men's and the women's tour so there are plenty of opportunities for betting, although it is rare a player from outside the world's top 32 upsets the odds to win the tournament.
The top 32 players in fact get a bye to the second round, and the Indian Wells event is one of the most popular tournaments on the tour. It is behind only the four grand slams in terms of attendances and it always attracts the top players from the world of tennis. It falls between the Australian Open and French Open grand slam events in the tour calendar.
The men's tournament involves a purse of $3.645 million.
Previous winners include the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova, so it is well worth looking for some value in the betting from the top players. Federer won it three times in succession and is sure to be at short odds in the ante-post betting, but there should be some value to be found in the likes of Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic, and indeed Ivan Ljubicic who recorded a rare feat in upsetting the odds to win the 2010 tournament.

Isner had upset the odds to beat defending champion Novak Djokovic in the semis but found Federer too good at the last.
