The Federation Cup is the Ladies equivalent of the men's Davis Cup. The Federation Cup got underway in 1963 as it was felt important to give the women an opportunity to play for their country and match the men's version.
The crowds turn out in force to see this version of the tennis game in similar numbers to Wimbledon plus it gives the local fan a chance to celebrate the best of what their country has to offer.

To a large extent the women's game has a lot to thank Billie Jean King for as it was her that was the driving force behind the Federation Cup plan. The tournament also of course provides another opportunity for tennis fans to get stuck into a juicy Tennis Betting tournament.
With over 100 teams participating along with the excellent TV and online coverage, the Federation Cup betting is on the increase and Bookmakers are reporting that that more and more online tennis punters are taking a closer interest in the competition. Many will like to have a flutter on their nation coming out on top in the Federation Cup Ante Post Betting market.
Placing a Federation cup online bet could not be simpler, it is a simple case of registering with a Bookmaker advertised on this site, opening an account and making a bet on the Federation Cup market. An added incentive of course is that all Bookmakers will make a Federation Cup Free Bets available to all new account holders.
There are many different betting markets available for the Federation Cup. For instance bookmakers such as Stan James offer markets that include the individual outright match winner, overall match result, Federation Cup outright win and even set betting on individual matches.
The Individual rubbers in each game are also something to consider as are set and handicap bets. In all it can pay to have a small interest in the Federation Cup in running markets with an online Betting Exchange such as Betfair.
The Federation Cup is played over three weeks with the first two rounds played home and away. Four teams from a 16 Nation World Group progress to the World Group Semi-finals and Final that are all played at one venue over the course of a week. The early matches will commence in early February with the finals being played in November.
The Antepost market for the 2010 Wimbledon Tennis tournament is already active and has world number and reigning champion, Roger Federer as a warm order favourite., while in the Ladies singles it is the Williams sisters who head the market.
Obviously there is much tennis to play before the tournament but it is often the case that antepost bets offer the best value, therefore it would be good advice to suggest that a visit to our dedicated Wimbledon betting site may well prove worthwhile.
