Three Tempting Each Way Bets For The Ladies Wimbledon Crown

It is hard to remember a Ladies' Wimbledon tournament being as wide open as the 2017 edition and it is shaping up to be an extremely competitive betting heat with seven-time champion Serena Williams and former winner Maria Sharapova both absent. With that in mind, we've got three tempting each-way selections for SW19 this year...

Wimbledon - Ladies
Tips Simona Halep (each way)    Best Bet @ 20 / 1
Agnieszka Radwanska (each way) @ 66 / 1
Sabine Lisicki (each way) @ 100 / 1

The Market Leaders

It is Petra Kvitova who heads to London as the 5/1 favourite with Paddy Power as the 2011 and 2014 champion bids to win the title for a third time. The Czech left-hander won the Aegon Classic last week but she is still feeling her way back following a horrible robbery which resulted in her being stabbed in the hand.

Kvitova is a class act but 5/1 is plenty short enough about a player who could meet British hopeful Johanna Konta in the fourth round.

Konta withdrew from her semi-final in Eastbourne with a spinal injury and that was a precautionary measure to ensure she is fit for Wimbledon. There will be plenty of pressure on the sixth seed on home soil and 14/1 is very short for a player who has never gone beyond the second round of this grass court major.

Halep Tops The Bill

It is Simona Halep who is a stand-out bet for us in the bottom-half as the Romanian bids to build on her runner-up effort at the French Open. The Romanian has come on leaps and bounds since having a frank exchange with her coach Darren Cahill earlier this year and she warmed up for Wimbledon with a last-eight appearance at Eastbourne.

Halep has a decent record at Wimbledon having reached the quarter-finals in 2016 and the semi's in 2014, and she looks decent each-way value at 20/1 (Coral).
Tip #1: Simona Halep (each way) @ 20/1 with Coral.

The 25-year-old is in a section of the draw that includes Victoria Azarenka, who is still finding her feet after the best part of a year out, as well as Elena Vesnina and the out-of-sorts Eugenie Bouchard.

Halep will be eyeing revenge against French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko (18/1) as they are pencilled in to meet in the semi-finals but Ostapenko will be under huge pressure when playing her first major as a Grand Slam winner.

Lisicki Offers Each-Way Value

Meanwhile, Sabine Lisicki is well worth a small each-way wager at 100/1 as the big-serving German has a game that is perfectly suited to grass courts. She is still on the comeback from a shoulder injury that has slowed her 2017 campaign but she reached the quarter-finals in Majorca recently, while she has reached the quarter-finals in five of her past seven visits to Wimbledon, including a runner-up effort in 2013.
Tip #2: Sabine Lisicki (each way) @ 100/1 with Betfred.

The 27-year-old is in the same section of the draw as Venus Williams, who has been hit by the news that she was at fault in a car crash that resulted in the death of a man in Florida recently, and the out-of-form Dominika Cibulkova.

Top Half Of The Draw

In the top-half of the draw, last year's runner-up, Angelique Kerber (20/1), faces a tricky route as 2015 runner-up, Garbine Muguruza (14/1), is a potential fourth round opponent.

Also in the top-half, Karolina Pliskova is a potential champion but she has never gone beyond the second round of Wimbledon and is very short at 11/2, particularly as she is in the same section of Coco Vandeweghe and Caroline Wozniacki, who was in fine fettle in Eastbourne.

We prefer to back Agnieszka Radwanska at a bigger price as she has made at least the fourth round in each of her last five appearances at Wimbledon, including two semi-final appearances and a final. It is a stretch to suggest the Pole can win Wimbledon but she is adept on grass and 66/1 looks like a big price for a player who is capable of at least reaching the final in what is a wide open tournament.
Tip #3: Agnieszka Radwanska (each way) @ 66/1 with Boylesports.
