The ‘business end’ of the Mens singles championship at Wimbledon gets underway this Wednesday in SW19, with four mouth-watering quarter final matches that will decide who the last four will be. First up will be defending champion, Roger Federer, who appears to be peaking bang in time and who remains overall favourite to win the tournament with odds of 6/4 with Betfred. The four matches are as follows:
Number one seed, Federer will be looking to win through to his eighth consecutive Wimbledon semi final, while the Czech, Berdych, seeded at number 12, and one of the most improved players in the world this year, will be looking to make his first. The two players last met earlier this year in the Round of 16 at the Miami Masters, which surprisingly was won by Berdych in three tough sets. Prior to that however, Federer had won eight of their nine meetings, which includes a straight sets Last 16 win at Wimbledon in 2006. Federer is a massive 1/6 odds on favourite to win, while Berdych can be backed at 4/1 with betfred to repeat his Miami success.
Despite having to have the medical staff on court in his Last 16 match against Lleyton Hewitt, the Serb and number three seed, Djokovic, will be counting his blessings that he will be facing Lu in the quarter finals and not Andy Roddick. Lu of course sensationally put Roddick out of the tournament in the Round of 16 on Monday, thus reaching his very first Grand Slam quarter Final The two men have never met before, but despite his ranking of only 82 in the world it would be a mistake for Djokovic to underrate him, particularly after he played brilliantly to beat Roddick. As one would expect, Djokovic is an overwhelming 1/6 odds on, while Lu is a 4/1 chance to make the semi Finals.

Number 4 seed Murray, who is the only player left who has yet to drop a set at Wimbledon is the 1/4 odds on favourite to win this match against one of his main rivals, Tsonga, who is at 11/4. These two are two of the most entertaining players in the world today, both possessing uncanny shot making skills, which should make this match the most crowd pleasing of the four Quarter Finals. Surprisingly however, the two have only met on court three times before and it is Murray who holds a 2-1 advantage, including victory the last time they played each other in the Montreal Masters in 2009. This will be their first meeting on grass.

Possibly the most exciting of the four ties, with the Swede, Soderling playing Tennis currently that will be hard, even for the brilliant Nadal to contain. The Spaniard of course defeated Soderling in the French Open Final a couple of weeks ago, but will find him a completely different proposition on grass than the clay of Roland Garros. Add to the mix, that Nadal, has not looked quite as potent at Wimbledon this year as he did when he won the Tournament in 2008, which we think gives Soderling a very real opportunity in this match where he could defy the odds of 11/8 against him winning. Meanwhile, Nadal remains at 4/7 odds on with Betfred.com to win the match.
6/4 Federer
3/1 Nadal
9/2 Murray
8/1 Soderling
10/1 Djokovic
20/1 Berdych
50/1 Lu
