World number two, Novak Djokovic defends his ATP Dubai title this week in a field that will not include Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal. Federer has picked up a chest infection and Nadal is still recovering from injury sustained at the recent Australian Open. Their absence has persuaded Boylesports Bookmakers to make Britain’s, Andy Murray 19/10 favourite to win the event, with Djokovic rated at only third best at 4/1.
Murray has been resting up since his defeat to Federer in the Australian Open Final but claims he is in great form ahead of this event and is looking for a big result. Murray’s first round opponent is Russian qualifier Igor Kunitsin and assuming he wins that match he is likely to come up against either the tough Italian, Andreas Seppi or the equally tough Serb Janko Tipsarevic in the second round. His biggest test however, should they both get there of course will be in the quarter finals against Marin Cilic, the man who knocked Murray out of the 2009 US Open, but who Murray gained his revenge against by defeating in Australia.

One other player who will come to Dubai with a big chance of winning is the ultra talented French star, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. His natural demeanour always guarantees him crowd support and if he can turn it on this week he is a very lively contender to win, especially with odds of 14/1.
