Ladies French Open Tennis Betting: Henin Favourite to make it Five

Four times French Open Ladies Champion Justine Henin is a warm order favourite to regain the crown ahead of the Championship which begins at Roland Garros this weekend. Henin of course as not long returned from premature retirement and immediately made her presence known by reaching the final in the year’s opening Grand Slam in Australia. She lost that final to her nemesis, Serena Williams, but at Roland Garros she will be on her favourite surface, even though she has not shown her best form in recent tournaments.

Serena Williams is in fact second favourite, but we think she is best left alone as a betting proposition this year as she has missed three months of competition through injury. She has not performed at her best on clay either, although she did win this event back in 2002, when she beat big sister, Venus in the Final. Serena can be backed however at 5/1, while Venus, who has shown good form on clay this year could be a much better option at 12/1 also with Boylesports.

Defending champion Svetlana Kuznetsova, who also made the final here in 2006, has been in dreadful form so far this year which has seen her drop down in the world rankings to number 6. She has not made a final and looks one to avoid in the betting this time around, despite the 25/1 on offer.
