Number One seed, Roger Federer starts his defence of the Wimbledon mens singles title as the warm order favourite to win the crown for the seventh time in eight years. The Swiss is an 11/8 bet with VC Bet while next best in the betting is 2008 Champion and new world number one, Rafael Nadal who is a 9/4 shot, while Britain’s Andy Murray is next best at 8/1.
Wimbledon Mens Singles Odds Comparison
The draw appears to have been very kind to Federer, who will begin his defence on the Centre Court against Colombian Alejandro Halla whom he has beaten in straight sets on all four of their previous meetings. In fact Federer should have little to worry about until he reaches the last 16, when he could come up against form player and French Open semi-finalist, Thomas Berdych, who is a genuine outsider to win here himself. Berdych who is seeded 12 in fact can be backed at 40/1 to win the Tournament and 20/1 to reach the final.

As far as Nadal is concerned he could find himself in some difficulty should he come up against the big serving American 24th seed, John Isner. Nadal will have the edge but he has struggled against genuine serve and volleyers such as Isner in the past.
Nadal in fact is seeded to meet Murray in the semi-final, but such has been the erratic form of Murray there is a strong case to believe that he will not get that far this year, like he did last. To make the semi-finals it would appear that Murray would have to at least overcome last week’s winner at Queens, Sam Querrey (seeded 18) and then may face a tough encounter with top Frenchman, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (seeded 10) in the quarter final. The Bookmakers however have been keen to promote the stage of elimination market for Murray, which could offer the tennis punter good value.

We believe that there is little to prevent Federer on reaching his eighth consecutive final and apart from Nadal we do not see a player that could readily beat him. We do see a possible surprise in the lower half of the draw however and believe Querrey, who looked so impressive when winning at Queens last week, could go all the way to the final at the expense of Nadal. A Federer/ Querrey Final in fact is a very attractive bet with odds of 66/1 from Bet365.com
11/8 Federer
9/4 Nadal
8/1 Murray
16/1 Roddick
16/1 Soderling
20/1 Djokovic
33/1 Hewitt

50/1 Tsonga
50/1 Querrey
