Roger Federer starts as firm favourite for the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals at the O2 Arena. Federer is a five-time winner of the event, which starts on Sunday, and he is currently priced 15/8 by William Hill bookmakers, while Andy Murray is available at industry best priced odds of 11/4.
Both players have been in fine form of late and Murray in particular looks a tempting bet to win the tournament for the first time on his favourite hard court surface. The British number one was on a three tournament and 18 match winning run before his semi-final defeat to Tomas Berdych last week and he will have the chance to exact swift revenge on the Czech.
Murray has been drawn in Group A, along with Berdych, David Ferrer and Novak Djokovic, with the players playing each other once, with the top two going on to the semi-finals.
Djokovic is a 4/1 punt to win the tournament, despite winning the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open this season. The Serb started the season on fire, winning 43 matches in a row before falling to defeat against Federer at the French Open. However, he arrives in London with a shoulder injury and he looks vulnerable after pulling out of the Paris Masters.
Tomas Berdych is available at odds of 20/1 after ending Murray's winning run as he once again showed he is capable of causing an upset, although his lack of consistency is a concern. 2007 finalist David Ferrer (33/1) completes Group A and he plays Murray in his first match, an opponent he has failed to beat in his last four attempts.
In Group B, Roger Federer was drawn alongside Rafael Nadal, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Mardy Fish. Federer arrives on the back of consecutive tournament wins at Basel and Paris and he has now won his last twelve matches in a row. The five-time champion has won three of the past five renewals, including victory over Rafael Nadal last year.
Nadal has never won this tournament and he arrives under the radar this week, with WilliamHill.com pricing him a hugely tempting 5/1. He will be hoping he doesn't have to face Novak Djokovic in the final as he has lost his last six finals against the world number one, but he is a best priced 5/2 to win Group B outright.
The final last year between Nadal and Federer was a rare occasion that two of the top players have reached the final of this tournament, with the likes of Nikolay Davydenko, James Blake and David Nalbandian making the last two in recent years.
That should give Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Mardy Fish hope. Tsonga is a 12/1 shot to win the tournament after he lost the Paris Masters final 6-1, 7-6 to Federer last week, while Fish is a juicy 50/1 after struggling for form and fitness of late - he has lost in the first round in two of his last three tournaments.
15/8 Roger Federer
11/4 Andy Murray
4/1 Novak Djokovic
5/1 Rafael Nadal
12/1 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
20/1 Tomas Berdych
33/1 David Ferrer
50/1 Mardy Fish
