Ladbrokes Bookmakers have installed Andy Murray as the 11/4 favourite to win the Cincinnati ATP 1000 Masters which gets underway this week. The favourites tag has obviously been earned by virtue of the Scot winning the Toronto Masters last week, where he beat defending Cincinnati champion, Roger Federer in straight sets in the final.
It was Murray’s first win of the year and the first for some time without coach, Miles McLaglan who Murray sacked last month. He also became the first man this year to have beaten both Federer and Rafael Nadal in the same tournament.

As mentioned above, Federer is the defending champion from 2009 where he beat Novak Djokovic in the final, however, such was Murray’s form last week that Federer finds himself at 3/1 second favourite of two to win, the same price as world number one, Nadal., while Djokovic who has been the beaten finalist in fact for the last two years is a 7/1 to go one better in 2010.
There are nine ATP 1000 Masters tournaments in the course of the year with Cincinnati being the seventh. Nadal in fact has won three of them so far this year which has taken him past the record of 18 wins that was held by Andre Agassi. Other wins have come from Andy Roddick, who won in Miami and Ivan Ljubicic who won the opening Masters event in Indian Wells. Roddick often plays well in the Masters events that are held in the States and is a very tempting 25/1 bet with Ladbrokes to win this, a feat he has achieved twice before!
Murray has also won in Cincinnati, taking the title in 2008, when he beat Djokovic in the final, but Nadal, who has won in the States before has never won this particular tournament.
Those we think with outside chances of winning are Swede, Robin Soderling, who is playing consistently good tennis these days, he is a good price of 20/1 with Ladbrokes, while Wimbledon runner up, Tomas Berdych, who is also showing good form, is a best price of 16/1, also with Ladbrokes.com
