Rafael Nadal v Novak Djokovic US Open Tennis Final Odds

Rafael Nadal has been made a huge 1/3 odds on favourite with Ladbrokes.com to defeat number three seed, Novak Djokovic in tonight’s US Open Mens Singles Tennis Final at Flushing Meadows.

Nadal of course has made his first ever US Open final by easily overcoming number 12 seed, Mikhail Youzhny in straight sets in his semi-final, while Djokovic pulled off a minor miracle in his, by surviving two match points against him and coming out on top against Roger Federer in five pulsating sets.

Nadal will be looking to not only win his first ever US Open, but also to win three Grand Slam titles on the bounce, having already won the French and Wimbledon titles earlier this year. Should he win then it will be his 9th Grand Slam title in total and at only 24 years old, he has every chance of catching the record held by Federer of 16. Djokovic on the other hand will be looking to win his second Grand Slam, having won the Australian Open in 2007 and although he will be tired after the Federer match, he will be confident that he can match Nadal on the fast hardcourts of Flushing Meadows.

The two men have met a total of 21 times on tour, with Nadal having a clear cut upper hand, winning 14 to Djokovic’s 7. However the two have not played each yet in 2010 and the last three times they did play against each other was a year ago and Djokovic won all three on hardcourt surfaces. His semi final win was his first victory over Federer for quite some time and to win he expended a great deal of energy.
