The Bookmakers can barely split Novak Djokovic and Tomas Berdych ahead of their Wimbledon mens singles semi final on Centre Court on Friday. Indeed, Ladbrokes make number three seed, Djokovic the 8/11 favourite with Berdych, conqueror of the great Roger Federer in the Quarter Final at even money.
If the match should be decided on experience alone, then it would be Djokovic who comes out on top. The Serb, despite being the younger man by a couple of years, has already made one semi final appearance before at SW19, but was forced to retire against Rafael Nadal, but he has also won a Grand Slam, the Australian Open in 2008 and was a finalist at the US Open also in 2007. Until this week, Berdych’s best performance in a Grand Slam came last month in the French Open where he reached the semi final, only to lose in five sets to Robin Soderling.
Wimbledon mens Singles Odds Comparison
As far as their head to head count is concerned it is Djokovic who looks the man to back, having won both of their previous two matches and both in straight sets. The latest of those wins came last year in the Miami Masters, but Berdych is a completely different player in 2010 and we think those past results should be ignored.

It has to be said that Berdych looked quite magnificent against Federer in the Quarters, he won in four sets, displaying a hard hitting baseline game using uncanny accuracy, combined with outstanding service returning. In fact he and Djokovic play a very similar style, which could mean long rally’s as well as a long match. If that is the case then the odds would surely swing in favour of Berdych, particularly due to Djokovic’s reputation of unreliability in long matches. We therefore think that a good bet to be on would be to back Berdych to win in five sets, a bet which is available at 5/1 from Ladbrokes.com.
As far as winning Wimbledon is concerned, the two players are well behind Rafa Nadal and Andy Murray who play in the second semi-final. Djokovic can be backed to win Wimbledon with odds of 9/2, while Berdych is an 11/2 chance – these odds are once again available via Ladbrokes Bookmakers.
