Rory McIlroy long odds on to win first major in 2011 US Open

Britain's Rory McIlroy will take an eight shot lead into the final round of the 2011 US Open at the Congressional Country Club in Washington. McIlroy has been imperious for ther first three days and sits a top of the leaderboard on fourteen under par. The 22 year old from Hollywood in Northern Ireland is dominating the US Open field so much that bookmaker Paddy Power have only priced up seven of his other rivals going into the final round. McIlroy is 1/14 to win his first major and he'll be looking to draw on the experience of losing a four shot lead at Augusta in April in the Masters to inspire him to victory here.

Lee Westwood shot a second round 65 to rocket him up the leaderboard in a tie for third place on five under par. The Englishman is Paddy Power's second favourite at 18/1, ahead of second place Y.E. Yang on 25/1. Westwood also heads the betting without McIlroy at 11/4. Jason Day is also tied for third with Westwood and also shot a third round 65. The young Australian is no stranger to the leaderboard on the Sunday of a major and he can be backed at 40/1. American Robert Garrigus is the third of the trio in third place on five under par, but not fancied at odds of 80/1.
