Women's US Open Betting Preview: Serena Williams hot favourite in New York

The women's game has been a wide open affair in recent years but Serena Williams' return to form and fitness could prove timely for her ahead of the US Open. The American has finally looked like her old self and she could ensure that the pecking order in women's tennis is returned by winning at Flushing Meadows, with Bet 365 making her the 6/4 favourite.

Williams has endured a torrid time with injuries but the 13-time Grand Slam winner looks in great nick. The three-time US Open champion has won consecutive tournaments in recent weeks as she claimed the Stanford Classic and Rogers Cup titles on the American hard courts - losing only one set in two weeks. She withdrew from the Cincinnati Open with an injury problem last week but the extra rest should stand her in great stead and she is very much the one to beat as she bids to reclaim the US Open crown she last won in 2008.
