Amlin 1965 Chase Odds: Captain Chris Can Get Back to winning Ways in Ascot Feature

The Paul Nicholls trained Master Minded will almost certainly go off as the narrow favourite to repeat his victory of 12 months ago in the Grade Two Amlin 1965 Chase over 2m3f at Ascot on Saturday. However, in light of his disappointing reappearance in the Old Roan Chase last month at Aintree, where he finished well behind when last in a three horse race, there will not be too many punters rushing to back him despite the odds of 2/1 available from Paddy Power.

The 8 length winner of the Old Roan Chase was in fact Albertas Run, who remarkably finished 9 lengths behind Master Minded over the same course and distance in the Grade One Melling Chase in April. This clearly demonstrates that the former dual Champion Chaser, remains wholly inconsistent leaving punters guessing as to his true form and being totally unsure of how much they would want to lose on a horse who two years ago was the highest rated in National Hunt Chasing. That said Master Minded is still the best horse in the race, he will be re-united with jockey, Daryl Jacobs who rode him to victory 12 months ago and of course the Nicholls stable is in great form currently.
