David Beckham Injury Rules Him Out Of World Cup

David Beckham who was trying to become the first English person to play in four World Cups has injured his achilles tendon playing for AC Milan against Chievo at the San Siro last evening and his fairytale career looks at an end. At the age of 34 Beckham was looking to secure his place in Capello's England squad which will be named on the 1st June.

Beckham's career could now be at an end as this injury will see him out of the game for at least 8 months and it is difficult to see him playing again in any major league of note. There is no doubt that he will be offered contracts when he recovers but this will have more to do with brand Beckham than what he will be able to offer on the field.
