Christmas TV Ratings Odds: The Battle Of the Soaps

The bookies are becoming more and more aware of the potential of captive TV audiences, broadening their Specials/Novelty markets year on year. Big Brother spawned a raft of reality shows which in turn saw an annual increase in the variety and breadth of the specials' books. The touch paper has been lit and rafts of turkey plumped viewers will be tuning in to see the denoument. Coronation Street is lower down the list this year having thrown all it's energies into its 50th anniversary shows earlier this month, so is clearly thought to have already peaked.
