2012 Arkle Trophy Chase Odds: Sprinter Sacre all the rage in the betting

The Grade 1 Arkle Challenge Trophy Chase is the second race of the Cheltenham Festival meeting beginning on Tuesday, with Sprinter Sacre set to go off a short priced favourite with the bookmakers. Just six runners will go to post in what is a rather disappointing turnout for the 2012 renewal, with a mixture of horses re-routing to the two and a half mile Jewson Novices' Chase on Thursday and those scared off by the favourite. Nicky Henderson's six year old will have the bookies running for cover should he win with Ladbrokes putting him up as their 8/11 jolly.

Beaten into third in last season's Supreme Novices' Hurdle Sprinter Sacre has come on leaps and bounds this term and has looked mightily impressive in his three wins from three starts. Nicky Henderson hasn't won the Arkle since Tiutchev in 2000, but he and jockey Barry Geraghty believe they're onto something special with this horse.
