The turkey sandwiches are still on the menu, the tree is hanging limply on to its baubles until the 6th January, but the world of reality TV has already kicked off with the last Celebrity Big Brother. With a number of changes to the forecasted entourage, there is already an out and out favourite. Early predictions had Ronnie O Sullivan as the winner, but it soon appeared that he was not to be a housemate but Vinnie Jones as Jack the Lad of the football and film world was an appropriate replacement. At 15/8 to win the show, bookmakers seem confident that home grown will secure the prize this year with DJ Basshunter and Dane Bowers at 4/1 and 5/1 respectively being the closest competition thus far.

24 year old Singer Lady Sovereign with energy and vitality on her side looks to stay for a while which is reflected in odds of 9/1, but it is perhaps Stephanie Beacham,s presence that may be the one to watch. Mature and charismatic have been winning qualities on this show and providing she proves to be adaptable to the scourges of the house she may go further than her current odds of 10/1 represent. The Americans are not predicted to do well, with Heidi Fleiss, the notorious New York madam, marked as the first to be evicted and 33/1 to win and whilst Sisqo fares better at 10/1 for his entertainment value, Stephen Baldwin whilst bringing a hint of Hollywood to north London is seen to be out of his depth at 20/1.
Whilst a settling in period will see the egos flare and flourish over the next few days, many eyes will be on Alex Reid, cage fighting, Hollyoaks actor and much flaunted boyfriend of Jordan. Intrigue will be key to the viewers tolerating his presence and cynicism key to his early eviction. He has a lot to prove and a lot to lose, this could be the story of the series and at 12/1 the bookmakers seem to concur that the public will want to scrutinize him for some time before he is evicted.
Glamour has never been a winning trait on Celebrity Big Brother so glamour model Nicola Tappenden whilst providing eye candy for the less discerning will have to come up with wit charm and decency to secure a place in the last three. Similarly, Katerina Ivanova, 21 year old ex girlfriend of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, will be looking for a career boost or maybe just a career by allowing herself to be in this particular goldfish bowl. As ever the joy for the viewer is seeing egos dashed and careers challenged and the winner always comes from a place of grounded realism, a label that would seem to hang comfortably on the shoulders of Vinnie Jones.
