The Irish Champion Stakes betting still has Sea The Stars as favourite despite warnings from his trainer, John Oxx, that the four time Group One winner will not run unless the ground at Leopardstown significantly improves. Sea The Stars is currently 4/5 with Paddy Power to maintain his unbeaten record this season and see off the strong challenge being thrown down by Aidan O'Brien and his five prong attack from Ballydoyle.

It was confirmed yesterday that St James Palace Stakes winner, Mastercraftsman will race and will hope to reverse the placings with Sea The Stars from their recent confrontation in the International Stakes at York. Mastercraftsman is currently 11/2 with Boylesports but he is not believed to be the Ballydoyle number one; that position is held by Irish Derby winner, Fame And Glory. He will also be looking to reverse placings with Sea The Stars following his second place to him in the Epsom Derby. Johnny Murtagh is likely to ride Fame And Glory in preference to Mastercraftsman but Murtagh has not always got his preferences right with the Ballydoyle three year olds this season so punters should not be put off, the chances of Mastercraftsman. Fame And Glory who has been contesting favouritism with Sea The Stars all week is now 6/4 with Ladbrokes
