The final Sunday each season sees loads of drama with any number of teams likely for the drop. Middlesbrough look likely to join West Brom in the Championship next season and are as short as 1/50 to do so. The other teams fighting it out are Newcastle who are 4/7 with Paddy Power and Hull are a 13/8 chance with Sunderland the ones most likely to play Premier League football next season. Sunderland still have matters in their own hands with a victory over Chelsea ensuring them their place for next season, but can one see them beating an inform Chelsea side?
Newcastle travel to Aston Villa knowing that they must win if they are to have a chance to survive. Even a victory may not be enough for the Magpies, if Hull and Sunderland get the results that they need to guarantee safety. Alan Shearer's side will draw inspiration from the fact that their opposition are in very poor form. Villa have won just once in their last 13 Premier League games and having already qualified for Europe, have little to play for. Yet Newcastle themselves have only won once in their last 12 league games and have won only twice away from home all season, beating fellow strugglers West Brom and Portsmouth.

Needing a win to guarantee their safety, Hull City couldn't have been handed a much trickier final day fixture, than a home game against Manchester United. At least, this is true in theory. With the Champions League final just days away, speculation is rife that United will field a weakened side, giving Hull a glimmer of hope. After a brilliant start, Hull have had an equally poor finish to the season and are without a win from their last 10 league games. Phil Brown's side have actually enjoyed more success away from home this season than at the KC Stadium, where they have won only 3 times. Manchester United are unlikely to risk injury to anyone likely to start the Champions League final, save for Rio Ferdinand who will return from injury to prove his fitness. Despite the threat of legal action from Hull's fellow relegation threatened teams, Alex Ferguson will consider his fringe players good enough to get a result.
