Denman Odds Hold Firm at 6-1 Generally For Gold Cup

The Denman odds for this year's Cheltenham Gold Cup have drifted slowly but surely ever since he returned to the track in February where he was beaten convincingly by Madison De Berlais. It was Denmans first defeat over fences but that was hardly surprising considering he was returning to the race course after heart surgery.

The fact that he came second some 18 lengths clear of the Albertas Run, himself a Cheltenham winner from 2008 and who was also only 5 lengths behind Kauto Star in the King George Chase at Kempton Park on Boxing Day was in our opinion a quite remarkable performance.

His trainer, Paul Nicholls was clearly disappointed but even he was not deterred and has kept faith in the horse even suggested that he is working better than ever at home.
