The next Portsmouth manager odds have Portsmouth Director of football, Avram Grant installed as short price favourite to take ‘over the reins' at the troubled club, following the sacking of Paul Hart.
The 'writing was on the wall' for Hart some time ago when the Portsmouth board appointed Grant to oversee things at Fratton Park and although results initially went ok, the defeat at the weekend against Stoke City forced the Portsmouth hand and Hart was removed.
Grant is now as short as 6/4 with VC Bet to take over with the next best in the betting being former Charlton boss, Alan Curbishley who is a 10/3 shot also with VC Bet.
The club have vowed to make an early appointment but in the meantime they have left first team matters in the hands of coaches, Paul Groves and Ian Woan. It is understood that Grant was in Germany when the decision to sack Hart was made and it is further understood that he has yet to obtain a work permit.

A late comer into the reckoning is former Peterborough boss, Darren Ferguson, who has been backed to as short as 9/2 with Ladbrokes to be at the helm by the weekend.
Whoever takes over they will be in for a difficult time with Portsmouth currently rooted at the foot of the Premier League table with only 7 points from ten games. They are 4 points adrift of the safety zone with a visit from Manchester United to contend with this weekend. Just to add further pressure they are 4/7 odds on second favourites with Ladbrokes to be relegated this season.
6/4 Avram Grant, 6/1 Darren Ferguson, 7/1 Alan Curbishley, 9/1 Steve Coppell, 14/1 Paul Groves, 16/1 Gareth Southgate, 20/1 BAR.
