Welsh National Tips
Our Welsh National tips for this weekend's Coral Welsh National betting feature at Chepstow is the Evan Williams trained High Chimes and the Paul Nicholls fancy, Officier De Reserve. We suggest backing them both at 9/1 and 10/1 respectively with Coral
For Evan Williams the opportunity to saddle High Chimes to be victory would be a very sweet one. For back in 1965, his father who had been a prominent point to point rider had ridden a horse called Norther to several victories on the Point to Point circuits. So good was Norther at that time that the connections entered him for the Welsh National which he duly won; sadly though for Williams senior he got jocked off the ride in favour of Terry Biddlecombe. Therefore victory this year would certainly be deserved justice.
Winning the Welsh National is not an easy affair however and the race has several top quality staying chasers in the field. But Williams who is having a great season is bullish about his horses chances. High Chimes is far from over-raced for his age, having had just nine starts in Britain, which included the Kim Muir Chase at last season's Festival where he proved his staying power in a race he won by four lengths. He has since ran exceptionally well in the Hennessey Gold Cup where he came a creditable sixth.

Officier De Reserve is another classy looking horse from the Nicholls yard and this race has been his main target for 2008.He was very unlucky in Ireland where he ran out of room due to veering horses when he was well poised and racing on the bridle. At 10/1 we just think the odds are too good to miss.
