The Boylesports International Hurdle odds for this weeks rearranged Boylesports Hurdle betting race, now to be run at Ascot, has Binocular as a warm order favourite. Owner JP Mcmanus should be provided with the proof this week, that his superb hurdler, Binocular has the ability to win the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham in March.
Already 7-2 favourite to wrench the hurdling crown from Katchit, the Nicky Henderson-trained four year old is reportedly in great shape for this £200,000 race, which shapes up as a Champion Hurdle prelude of exceptional quality. The David Pipe-trained Osana is the only big name missing from the line-up.
Binocular's odds shortened considerably with most firms after winning a modest four-year-old contest at Haydock Park last month, but it was the manner of his victory that impressed most that day.

Not since the great days of Istabraq and Baracouda has McManus appeared to have such a strong hand in the hurdling ranks. Apart from rising star Binocular, he also owns the Henderson-trained stablemate Aigle D'Or, who has Ascot's Ladbroke Hurdle on Dec 20 as his immediate target. It is a race that should ideally suit his type.
McManus also owns the Noel Meade-trained Jered, currently progressing nicely through the ranks, and who is as low as 10-1 for the Champion Hurdle with some firms. Jered struggled home well-beaten in a recent clash with Hardy Eustace and Sizing Europe in Ireland, but he will be an entirely different proposition on better ground. He failed to cope with the testing conditions, but it may well be a different story in March.
A maximum of 11 will line up in the Boylesports International, with other significant entries being Celestial Halo, Crack Away Jack, Chomba Womba, Harchibald, and Katchit. It is reported that Crack Away Jack has been the subject of considerable betting interest.
13/8 Binocular, 7/2 Crack Away Jack, 5/1 Katchit, 6/1 Chomba Womba, 10/1 Solwhit, 12/1 Celestial Halo, 20/1 Harchibald, 25/1 bar
