Next Sunderland Manager Odds

The next Sunderland manager odds began to change rapidly after it was announced that American businessman and Sunderland shareholder, Ellis Short has agreed to buy all remaining shares in the Drumaville consortium which own the club. Prior to the announcement it had been believed that current Wigan manager, Steve Bruce will quickly take over the managers job from Ricky Sbragia, however this now looks likely to change.

That said, Bruce is still odds on favourite to take the job but his odds have shortened to 1/3 with Paddy Power while Gordon Strachan and Sven Goran Eriksson are both 11/2 with the same bookmaker

Bruce will obviously remain in the frame but it is understood that Ellis Short might have a say on who takes the job, particularly as he intends to invest considerable sums of money and he will no doubt want a manager with a good record in player purchase and sales. Names like Slaven Bilic and Roberto Mancini have also reared their heads whilst names like Alan Curbishley and Steve McLaren have come under closer scrutiny.
