Amir Khan is odds on with the bookmakers to bounce back with a victory when he enters the ring for the first time since being knocked out in the first round by Breidis Prescott in September. Khan's opponent for Saturday's fight at London's Excel Arena is Oisin Fagan, an Irish born fighter know based in the USA. Fagan's professional record of 22 wins from 27 fights suggests that he is a more than capable fighter, but he is not in the same league as the other opponents Khan has met in 2008.
This fight is a big step back for Amir Khan and one can only assume that it has been chosen in attempt to help him return to winning ways and instill some much needed confidence back into the Bolton fighter, after it was last seen being smashed out of him and left in the ring of Manchester M.E.N Arena after just 54 seconds of his last fight.
The betting odds suggest that the bookmakers are confident that Khan will return to winning ways against Fagan, infact the 1/25 about the Khan win with Bet365 would suggest that he would need to do little more than turn up at the London venue on Saturday night. However, Khan was equally as short in the betting to win the fight against Prescott last time out, before the Colombian defied odds of 100/1 odds to win in the first round. Like Prescott, Fagan is priced at 8/1 to add to Khan's misery and the best odds available about another first round defeat are 50/1 with Ladbrokes.
It will be interesting to see just how much faith the public now have in Khan, previously, bookies would report one sided books in favour of a Khan victory whenever he fought but don't be surprised to see people supportign his opponents in the betting from now on. Khan is expected to win via knockout (1/7) following time in Hollywood with new trainer, Freddie Roach and current number one pound for pound fighter in the World, Manny Pacquiao, who also fights on Saturday night in Las Vegas against Oscar De La Hoya.
