England will face Germany in the last sixteen of the 2010 World Cup after finishing runners-up in Group C on Wednesday afternoon. Fabio Capello's men required a win over Slovenia in their final group match to ensure they reached the second round and despite winning the match 1-0, an injury time winner from Landon Donavon in the group's other match versus Algeria ensured that the USA topped the group on goals scored. Germany's 1-0 win over Ghana later on Wednesday meant that they topped Group D and set up the match with England in the last sixteen on Sunday afternoon. England's performance against Slovenia was much improved and whilst the Germans got off to a flyer in their World Cup campaign against Australia the momentum now appears to be with Fabio Capello's men.
