Melbourne Cup Betting
The Melboure Cup betting changed yet again after the shock announcement that the Godolphin runner, All The Good, would not take his place in the race. It is a great disappointment for the Godolphin team who had hoped that All The Good, could follow up his Caulfield Cup success and win the coveted Cup double.
His withdrawal has not changed the price of favourite, Septimus, he still has odds of around the 4/1 mark, but there are many speculating that Septimus is a favourite to take on. We agree, believing that he is out and out stayer only, with serious doubts concerning his speed, we think it is doubtful that he has the turn of foot necessary to win a race like this, it is also our contention that he will be carrying too much weight.

Second favourite, Mad Rush is becoming very popular in the betting, he is now just a point behind Septimus in the betting at 5/1. His trainer, Luca Cumani had the second here last year and now knows what it takes to win a race like this. Punters can expect abig run from him.
The horse who is being backed the most at the moment is Dermot Weld's mare, Profound Beauty. This support is on account of several scintillating gallop performances, where she has been easily the most impressive of those seen so far. Her odds have come in steadily from 20/1 last week to 10/1 this. There is also increasing support for the New Zealand trained stayer, Nom de Jeu. He was second behind All The Good in the Caulfield cup and his trainer, Murray Baker believes that he has come out of that race extremely well. He is also 10/1 shot and looks the best of those from down under.
