Melbourne Cup Odds
The Melbourne Cup odds have been changed quite a few times already before the big race gets underway on Tuesday. The latest change was due to the unfortunate withdrawal of last years winner, Efficient. He was the Australians big hope for the race but now Aussie attention is turning to Zipping, who came fourth in the race in 2007.
It is the Aiden O'Brien, Irish St Leger winner Septimus however who remains favourite and his odds have shortened now to 7/2. There are many who think that Septimus will not have the speed when he needs it in the race, he is an outstanding stayer but will need an electrifying turn of foot in the final furlong.

Winners of the Melbourne Cup have always come late and very fast at the end and one such horse that could do that is the Dermot Weld trained Profound Beauty. She has done nothing but impress on the Sandown gallops in her warm ups and her speed has been noted, hence her odds too have shortened to around the 11/1 mark. Weld of course has had two winners of the Melbourne Cup in the past, and he believes his mare is the dark horse in the race and as such could well be the winner the whole of Australia will be looking for.
Luca Cumani has two horses in the race, Mad Rush, who is second favourite at 5/1 and Bauer at 16/1. Cumani learned a lot about the Melbourne Cup last year when he saddled the runner up, Purple Moon, so he knows what sort of horse wins the race and as such his horses have to be respected.
