Champion Stakes Odds
The Champion Stakes odds for this weeks Champion Stakes betting Group One race at Newmarket sees the Jim Bolger trained, New Approach, heading the betting. New Approach returns to the course having won here on the same day last year in the Dewhurst Stakes. He of course came second here in the 2000 Guineas, behind Henrythenavigator, but he did go on afterwards to win the Epsom Derby, he is clearly a class horse and his claims got stronger this week after the announcement that his main rival, Phoenix Tower has been retired.

Surprisingly however, punters do not seem particular keen on the chances of the Derby winner and he has been taken on by many, who appear to be going for the French horse, trained by Andre Fabre, Russian Cross. There has also been increased support for the Henry Cecil trained, Twice Over. There is probably good reason for the pessimism over New Approach, due probably to the fact that French horses have won the last running's of the Champion Stakes and Fabre's horses are in great form.
While punters might be pessimistic, Bolger certainly isn't, he believes his horse will prove too good and he has hopes that Sheik Mohammed will keep New Approach in training as a four year old. Bolger is firmly convinced that New Approach can go on to bigger and better things.
