The Naaqoos 2000 Guineas odds were stable in and around the 14/1 mark after the French colt stunned the racing world at Longchamp with victory over the previously un beaten Ballydoyle trained, Mastercraftsman. Plaudits were raving over the performance of Naaqoos, who went to the front early and stayed there. Mastercraftsman tried to change gear under jockey Johnny Murtagh but was unable to and finished in a disappointing 4th place. O'Brien said after the race that he thought it was one run too many and the colt will now go for a well earned rest. Favourite for the first colts classic next May is O'Brien's other top notch 2 year old, Rip Van Winkle who is around the 7/1 mark.

Naaqoos looked like a terrific horse in running and his trainer, Freddie Head believes that he is a real champion and suggested that Newmarket could well be one his targets next season. He was pushed to the line by the tough Milanais, a colt that finished fourth behind one of O'Brien's other two year old stars, Bushranger in the Prix Morny. If that form line is anything to go by then it is possible that Bushranger could be an excellent bet for the race.
