European Ryder Cup Captain Odds

The European Ryder Cup Captain odds for the 2010 Ryder Cup Captain betting has Spains, Jose Maria Olazabal as odds on favourite to succeed Nick Faldo. His only serious challenger in the betting is Ian Woosnam who captained the team to their emphatic victory in 2006. The appointment is not expected to be ratified until early in 2009 but even at this stage it is thought that Olazabal will get the nod. He has strongly hinted however that he would like to try to make the team as a player, something he should be able to do easily, provided he remains fit enough and able.

Woosnam would be a very interesting choice but on paper it would be a logical one, particularly as the match will be played at Celtic Manor, in Wales on the 2010 course. Woosnam was fortunate enough to be Captain at the 2006 Ryder Cup, a match the Europeans won by 18½ - 9½ and he was praised by all concerned by the in which he managed the team and the media.

Nick Faldo in the meantime has not completely ruled himself out of the job, he hinted in an interview with Radio 5 Live, that he had not ruled anything out, but in light of the media reaction to his 2008 captaincy, it would seem that he would have no chance.
