Premier League Transfers Suggest Premier League Betting Odds Increase.
The Premier League Transfer window finally closed and the Premier League betting increased during the last 24 hours. The transfer merry-go-round ended with dismay for some clubs and joy for others. It also spelt joy all round for bookmakers who confidently expect a huge increase in turnover as fans and online backers start to put their money where their mouths are.

It seems that the Manchester City takeover and immediate purchase of Robinho from Real Madrid, was slightly bigger news that the Manchester United purchase of Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham. However, as far as the betting is concerned, Premier League favouritism did not transfer anywhere, Chelsea remain favourites at 5/4 while Manchester United and Berbatov are around 2/1. Manchester City moved from 200/1 into 100/1, odds that perhaps Robinho did not bother himself with when putting his signature to his lucrative contract.
Chelsea, who must be reeling at the loss of Robinho to Man City, did not sign anyone of note on the window, but they did buy heavily in the pre-season and have also held on to Didier Drogba who is reported almost fit again to return. They now must play with what they have until at least January, but what they have is a very good team and perhaps Robinho would not have made that much difference.
Liverpool added a couple of previously unheard of and unpronounceable names to their squad, while Everton busied themselves with several transfers including a record purchase by the club of Marouane Fellaini from Belgian club, Standard Leige. They also signed Louis Saha from Manchester United.

With players headed every which way but loose, the watching Arsene Wenger of Arsenal just carried on watching, he watched, waited, watched again and then decided to go home, obviously believing that his squad is strong enough as it is. The betting now reads 5/4 Chelsea, 2/1 Man Utd, 7/1 Arsenal. 8/1 Liverpool, 100/1 Man City, 175/1 Spurs, Aston Villa.
