The Odds for the Prix de Larc de Triomphe Betting Changes.

Prix de l'arc de Triomphe odds were changed yesterday, following a highly impressive performance by Getaway in the Luciene Barrier Grand Prix at Deauville on Sunday. The Andre Fabre colt was ridden by Frankie Dettori for the first time and there was no holding back the former champion jockey's delight when his horse got home with plenty more in hand. He was challenged late on, but had too much in the tank for the omnipotent, Doctor Dino and he looked as fresh as a daisy at the end of the race.

Getaway was in fact installed as favourite earlier in the year for the Arc after a scintillating display in the Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket in May. However, two poor efforts unexpectedly followed; firstly at the Epsom Derby meeting and then again in his St Cloud run in France. Fabre however has never lost faith in him and has booked Dettori to ride him in the big race itself in October. He will probably use a pacemaker in Paris as he did in this race. This would make the Arc this year a very interesting and tactical affair, especially if Aiden O'Brien and his Ballydoyle string adopts similar tactics with whoever he runs in the race. Several bookmakers cut Getaways odds from 16/1 down to 8/1, but Paddy Power are still offering 14/1.

Montmatre remains 5/2 favourite for the Arc, with top filly, Zarkava, at 7/2, Duke of Marmalade 5/1, New Approach 10/2, and Youmzain 12/1.
