European Ryder Cup 2008 Wildcard Odds
The European Ryder Cup 2008 Wildcard Odds suggest that it will be Irishman, Darren Clarke and Englishman, Paul Casey who will get the call from Captain Nick Faldo to make up the 12 man team. The following seven players should automatically qualify:
- Padraig Harrington
- Sergio Barcia
- Lee Westwood
Henrik Stenson- Robert Karlsson
- Miguel Angel Jiminez
- Graeme Mc Dowell
Those occupying the next three automatic places as it stands are:
- Justin Rose
- Soren Hansen
- Oliver Wilson
They should also automatically qualify unless poor performances in the final Ryder Cup qualifying competition, the Johnny Walker Championship at Gleneagles this weekend should rule them out. This could open the door for the next three on the list, Martin Kaymer, Nick Dougherty and Ross Fisher. However whatever the outcome of that particular squabble, it should have no bearing whatsoever on Faldo's wildcard picks. Neither Casey nor Clarke can qualify automatically, but the recent form of both, particularly Clarke who won the KLM Dutch Open last week has put them on top of the wildcard betting lists. Others high on that list include; Ian Poulter, runner up in the British Open in July and Colin Montgomerie, the talisman of the European Ryder Cup team for years. In addition there are the unlucky three from the automatic list named above.
