The race is the feature race of the day and will now not feature pre race favourite and Ascot Gold Cup winner, Yeats. Yeats is not ready and so trainer Aiden O'Brien will run Ascot Stakes winner, Honolulu, who will likely compete for favouritism. Allegretto who is trained by Sir Michael Stoute stayed on very strongly to win last years race and won by half a length from Veracity. Although she was disappointing in the soft ground on her first run of the season this year, she ran much better at Ascot in the Gold Cup and has come on leaps and bounds for the run. The Goodwood course suits her style and without Yeats in the race she is in with a great chance to win, particularly if they go off at a good pace.
