WGC Golf Odds for this week's World Golf Championships – Bridgestone Invitational has Phil Mickelson as the pre tournament favourite. Without Tiger Woods in the field the odds for the fancied players are quite generous and as only few of them have won on the Firestone Course in Ohio, the tournament is ripe for betting on. Woods has made this tournament his own, having won it an astonishing six times. His victory earlier this year in the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship gives him 15 titles overall in the series begun in 1999 that some have referred to, not without cause, as the Woods Golf Championships.

So who can win without Woods in the field, Playing for the fifth time in six weeks Jim Furyk has the most consistent record in the field with five top-10 finishes, Furyk, has been 14th or better in his last three tournaments and has the second best scoring average at the Firestone South course. Australian Geoff Ogilvy has won each of the three World Golf Championship events in the past including the WGC CA Championship in March. He'll have his work cut out to win here however; in three starts at Firestone he has yet to better 36th place. There are three players in the field who have won at the Firestone course. Stewart Cink won the 2004 Bridgestone Invitational one year after Darren Clarke. The third man in the equation is Phil Mickeslon, who triumphed in 1996 at the World Series of Golf. Vijay Singh has an opportunity to finish in the top ten of all three WGC events this year, he tied 2nd in the CA Championship and tied 5th at the WGC Matchplay. Padraig Harrington, newly positioned at number three in the world rankings after winning his last two events including the British open is another in great form. The betting reads 14/1 Mickelson, 18/1 Garcia, 20/1 Furyk, Harrington, Perry, Els, Kim, Cink, Scott, Ogilvy. 22/1 bar.
