The Oslot Galway Plate odds are getting slimmer as each day goes by ahead of the big steeplechase at Galway Races on Wednesday. The Paul Nicholls trained horse will have stable jockey, Ruby Walsh on board and is seen by many as the on to beat in the race. Oslot will be joined by stable mate Hoo La Balloo who will carry top weight in the race. Hoo La Balloo will be ridden 18 year old Nick Schofield, who will be getting a taste of Irish racing at his best and at its most atmospheric. The Irish Champion trainer Willie Mullins has two in the race, Emma Jane and Irish Invaderas he attempts to win his first ever festival feature, while Noel Meade, who has yet to win the big one has as many as four in the race, including recent Kilbeggan winner, Rosaker. His others are, Dark Artist, Mr Robert and Irish Nation. Surprisingly Ballyagran who ran will in the Plate last year will be absent this. .

There will be many eyes laid on Handicap specialist, Tony Martin, who runs the impressive Green Mile who ran in a hugely convincing style when winning over hurdles at Killarney last week as a warmer for this. The bookies were very quick to shorten Green Mile's odds from 12/1 into 8/1 as a direct consequence. Martin also runs, Risk superman and Wonderkid. Trainer Christy Roche and Owner, J P McManus will be running just the one, Cool Running, who was third last year. It should be noted that Cool Running will not have Tony McCoy on board as he is banned on Wednesday. Roche has trained two winners of the Galway Plate, Grimes in 2001 and Far From Trouble in 2006. The most popular winner amongst the neutrals however would be the Dermot Weld trained Ansar. The winner here in both 2004 and 2005, runner up to Far From Trouble in 2006 and fourth last year, he will be looking to win for the third time and achieving an eighth success for Weld. Oslot however is a strong favourite and his odds of 7/1 are likely to shorten as the race draws near.
