Open Golf Betting
The Open Golf Betting has really heated up this week ahead of the Championship that starts this Thursday at Royal Birkdale. Spaniard Sergio Garcia is listed as favourite at around 10/1 to win the tournament outright, while expected favourites Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson are 15/1 and 16/1 respectively. Open Golf betting is one of the most popular betting events of the year with many golfing backers realising that there are very many tremendous golf betting incentives and lots of free bets available from all the leading ‘bookies'.

Not only are the incentives very attractive so are the odds! Although Garcia is 9/1 at worst, players who are just a as likely to win on a windy links course like Royal Birkdale, such as Jim Furyk, who finished in a tie for 4th place last time it was played at Royal Birkdale can be backed at 25/1. Justin Rose, who was a revelation on this course in the 1998 Open when he was a 17 year old amateur, can be backed at 28/1 and he is now the number 9 ranked player in the world! Other form players this year are Lee Westwood, 8th in the US Masters and 3rd in the US Open this year already, surely one of the Major Championships will fall to him sometime; he can be backed at 16/1. Defending Champion, Padraig Harrington, who returned to winning ways last weekend at the Irish PGA is also backable at 16/1, while Scottish Open winner and European Open 3rd, Graeme McDowell can be backed at a ridiculously generous 60/1. Robert Karlsson too has been in a rich vein of form nearly all season and no-one would begrudge him of lifting the Claret Jug for the first ever Swedish win. It would be marvellous if there could be a European winner in Ryder Cup year, the odds for that are 6/5 while the odds for an American winner are 11/4. England are 4/1 against producing a home winner.
