Irish Derby Tip
The Irish Derby tip this week is the Aiden O’Brien trained Alessandro Volta. The colt has been working tremendously well at home, so much so, that stable jockey, Johnny Murtagh, has plumped to ride him, rather than any of the other two stable representatives. Murtagh who rode Washington Irving at Epsom, believes that Alessandro Volta has the beating of him and furthermore he believes the Curragh track will suit. Colm O’Donoghue now gets the ride on Washington Irving, while Seamus Heffernan will ride Dante runner-up, Frozen Fire.

New Approach is now a non runner and this makes our tip much stronger possibility for the race. We ignore O’Brien at our peril. The stable has been taking every Group One race possible lately, their performance at Royal Ascot last week was truly amazing and confirmed that the stable is bang in form. If past performance is anything to go by, then all three of the stable’s entries will improve out of all proportion. If they do, then the 14/1 about Alessandro Volta look very attractive and are obviously good odds for the each way backer.
Full odds are 5/4 Tartan Bearer, 11/4 Casual Conquest, 11/2 Alessandro Volta, 13/2 Curtain Call, 16/1 Washington Irving, 20/1 Frozen Fire.
